PINOCCHIO

ILLUSTRATED TABLES

YEAR: 2016
There have been many editions of Pinocchio over the years, and just as many illustrious artists have tackled Collodi's writings, recounting in their own way the adventures of the puppet that the whole world knows.
Talani, no less, with his highly recognisable mark sinks his brush between the lines and makes the story of the piece of wood that wanted to become a child his own. Thus are born the 31 plates that accompany the reader with subtle amusement and light strokes in the adventurous and sometimes tragic journey of the protagonist.
The book, which is particularly well-rendered in its graphics, through Talani's sensitivity renders us a Pinocchio with a singularly human and concrete trait, as do many of the characters who accompany him as the story unfolds.
Outside the obvious metaphors of Collodi, who addressed "his little readers", Talani rereads the universal story of Pinocchio and, with his poetic vision, makes it a fable that is topical in its sign, aimed at young and old alike.
Talani, an extraordinary storyteller in painting, gives us a beautiful tale that accompanies the adventures narrated by Collodi without overlapping. On the contrary, taking us by the hand, he reveals the emotional force of a text that, deliberately kept in the 19th century language according to the instructions of the Collodi Foundation, as adults we still reread today with a melancholic smile, leaving children with all the amused amazement of their age.
