Fresco, 20×4 metres /787x157 inches – Santa Maria Novella railway station (Florence)
YEAR: 2006

In 2006, Talani completed the fresco “Partenze” (Departures) designed for the Santa Maria Novella railway station. For technical reasons related to wall-painting transfer and conservation, the fresco was removed from the original mural support by strappo technique and fixed on panels, before it was finally displayed at the station main hall. It is currently the biggest “strappo” of fresco ever done, attracting a multitude of visitors daily and about 60 millions passengers annually, passing through the Santa Maria Novella train station.
By 2017, it will be permanently displayed at the city’s newly opened Museo del Novecento located in Florence, at Santa Maria Novella square, dedicated to the art of the 20th century.
