In 2009 Giampaolo Talani, the only foreign artist invited by the Berlin authorities, opened the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Wall with the installation DIE MAUER - The Umbrellas of Freedom.
Carried by the wind of freedom, the umbrellas already seen in Florence's Piazza Signoria on the occasion of the 2008 Rosa dei Venti anthological exhibition, climb over what remains of the Berlin Wall.
They are poetic and irrepressible signs of redemption and liberation that fly beyond the many walls that man too often builds to limit his freedom and that of others in his inability to find a balance with his fellow man.
